I believe it was serendipity. I quite literally just finished sending final files to a client when I got a message from Ros Juan, the bosslady of Commune Coffee. She asked me if I had free time in my schedule to take on a quick project. My initial gut answer said yes. And based on my human design, I’ve learned that I should always trust my initial reaction. Besides, I’ve always had a good time laughing and chatting with Ros when I saw her. I’ve hosted a makers’ market at Commune before, and I also got to tattoo her more recently. Then she told me what the project was about. Then I was absolutely in.

Every year, Commune comes out with limited edition coffee beans to support Filipina farmers in different farms in the Philippines. In 2025 they supported a community in the Cordillera Region. I am happy to say they were able to raise funds to purchase drying racks for the community.

I illustrated and designed labels and postcards for the 2025 series. The labels were also printed out as patches for an extended collaboration of specially made totes by Riotaso.
