Branding, Creative Direction & Photography for Tuere Collective.
I was asked by a tattoo client one day if I did branding work. She had this wonderful idea for an online store. It resonated with every fiber of my being. Or at least the being I aspire to be. It was to be a store that brought in natural healing products sourced from parts of the world that called her. She asked me to come up with a shamanic and lush direction for her brand. “Tuere” is a word that means “to protect”, “to guard”, “to watch over”, often used in a spiritual sense.
I had a great time developing her logo, all rendered in gouache and colored pencils. The motif revolved around the moth, an insect that symbolizes transformation, attraction and the spiritual journey. With it, I added botanical elements of plants used in the products she was to bring in.
I believe that the energy that you put into your work reflects its light onto the receiver. I suppose she liked and felt what I did for the brand. And I suppose we really did have a mutually great time working together because months later, she asked me to be part of the brand as the ‘Creative Person’ (we didn't speak of titles, only roles and heartwarming stories). I had to make sure everything was coherent--designing everything from social media content to packaging of newer products. I also took product photos for the site--as you can tell, I really loved this project.
